UPPCL and the UP government have launched this relief scheme from December 1, 2025. Under this scheme:
- If you have unpaid old electricity bills and interest or surcharge has been added to them, then 100% surcharge/interest will be waived off.
- Apart from this, up to 25% discount will be given on the principal amount (original bill).
- For example: If your original outstanding bill was ₹40,000 and with interest it reached ₹52,000, then under this scheme you may have to pay only around ₹30,000 and everything will be cleared.

This scheme is not for everyone it has specific eligibility:
- It is mainly for domestic consumers and small commercial users.
- Domestic electricity users with up to 2KW load are included.

How Will You Get This Relief
- First, you need to register for the scheme. You can register on the official website www.uppcl.org, or by visiting your nearest electricity department office/CSC service center.
- At the time of registration, you may need: Aadhaar card or ID proof, consumer number, and your old bill copy.
- After registration, the department will recalculate your outstanding amount remove the interest, apply the discount, and then show you the updated payable amount.
- You will then get two options One-Time Settlement (OTS) or Easy Installments.
- Even those whose connection has already been disconnected or who had penalties due to misuse or non-payment can get relief.

Till When Will the Waiver Be Available?
- The scheme started on December 1, 2025.
- The first phase ended on 31 December 2025 early registration offers the highest benefits (Up to 25% discount on the principal amount).
- The second phase will run from January 1, 2026 to January 31, 2026 (Up to 20% discount on the principal amount).
- The third and final phase will run from February 1, 2026 to February 28/29, 2026 (Up to 15% discount on the principal amount).
Important:
The earlier you register and pay, the higher the discount you will get.
In later months, the discount percentage may get reduced.

- Verify your identity by entering the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
- Once verified, your current outstanding bill amount will appear on the screen
- After that, click on “View Bill” to see the complete bill details, including previous dues, late fee, surcharge, payment history, and total payable amount

How to Online Registration for UP Bijli Bill Rahat Yojana?
If your electricity bill is pending and you want to take benefit of this scheme, then first you need to complete the registration. You can register online.
First, open the official website of UPPCL on your mobile or computer: www.uppcl.org
On the homepage, you will see an option Bijli Bill Rahat Yojana 2025-2026 Click on it.
A registration form will appear on your screen. You need to fill in the following details:
- Consumer Number
- Mobile Number
- Email ID (optional)
- Your address and electricity connection details
After filling all the details correctly, submit the form.
Right after submitting, the website will show you important billing details such as:
- Your total pending bill amount
- How much interest has been waived
- Whether you want to pay in a single payment or through installments
Now you will be redirected to the payment page, where you have to pay the registration fee (around ₹2000).
